Meet Jennifer.

Introducing Jennifer Robinson is a multifaceted force in the film industry, media, and social consultancy. With an illustrious career spanning over two decades, Jennifer has gathered expertise in festival production, film and media education, journalism, and public relations. Founding Women Of The Lens is her main contribution for the arts and culture industries, creating spaces for underrepresented voices and stories, particularly those of black women.

Mark had a fabulous time creating Jennifer's Fantasy Cultural Year which she remarked was "life changing!". If only it could be real! For now, you'll just have to watch the video or audio recording to find out.

Jennifer's journey has been marked by a relentless pursuit of change and empowerment. From journalism at Bloomberg, into roles in public relations consultancy and education, where she taught Film and Media Studies, nurturing the next generation of storytellers.

In 2015, Jennifer embarked on her first foray into festival production with the Black Filmmaker International Film Festival, igniting a spark that would fuel her subsequent endeavours. It was in 2017, however, that she recognised the glaring absence of platforms dedicated to showcasing the talents of black women in the UK, which lead to the creation of the Women Of The Lens Film Festival. Jennifer's vision birthed a space for authentic representation and celebration of diverse narratives.

Jennifer is clear it is not just about the roles we can see on camera, but also ensuring black women have access to decision-making roles in the industry. They drive change by asking productions about the black women and diversity they have as producers, writers, line managers, casting or advertising marketing and PR for example.

Through her leadership, Jennifer cultivated an environment where complex stories could thrive, escaping the confines of conventional media portrayals. Her unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion spurred partnerships and initiatives aimed at nurturing talent and fostering meaningful discourse within the industry.

Jennifer Robinson - film industry equity pioneer

As Festival Director for the British Urban Film Festival (BUFF). Her comprehensive skill set, which encompasses film, media, writing, and social media strategy, positions her as a formidable force in brand building and digital marketing.

Alongside the above, Jennifer founded JGR Connects, a consultancy offering social media strategy and social media management to build the correct vision for the brands she works with, engaging audiences across various platforms.

Jennifer remains deeply rooted in community engagement, volunteering as a Radio Producer for Brockley Max Festival. Her dedication to amplifying diverse voices and fostering inclusive spaces underscores her commitment to driving positive change within the industry and beyond.

Jennifer Robinson's work demonstrates the transformative power of storytelling and the profound impact of individuals dedicated to championing representation and diversity in the film industry.
