Clarke Jones is an American-born, Germany-based music producer and founder of Clarke Jones Records.

I founded Clarke Jones Records in 2009 with a simple but firm intention: to create and release music I believe in—without compromising artistic integrity or bowing to industry pressures. Over the years, my independent label has supported emerging artists from all walks of life, and we’ve managed to carve out a space that values authenticity over commercial formula.
As a full member of The Arts and Culture Network, I was recently invited by Mark Walmsley to take part in one of his “fantasy cultural year” interviews. We had a great conversation that covered music, travel, art, and a fair bit of imagination.
In the interview, I shared that my latest release is Zombie Town by DJ Donner (that’s “Thunder” in German), now live on all major streaming platforms including Spotify, YouTube, and SoundCloud. If you look up Clarke Jones Records, you’ll find us there.
Mark and I began the fantasy journey sitting under the Eiffel Tower with a cold German Pilsner in hand—my drink of choice. I then set off on a musical scouting mission (first class, of course) to New York, where I’d discover new pop talent. My evenings included a belly dance performance, a steak dinner, and a visit to Venice to step inside a Van Gogh painting in a virtual reality gallery.
I also admitted my fondness for cricket, which might surprise a few people. We talked about concerts I wish I could revisit—Sade, for instance, who I once worked with in Stuttgart—and the kind of music I most enjoy: pop, but really anything that’s simply “good music.”
To round it all off, Mark asked who I’d choose for a dream dinner. My answer? Donald Trump. Not for political reasons, but because I admire resilience and tenacity—qualities I think we could all use more of.
