David J Diamond
Theatre arts coach
I’m a coach, curator, and longtime theatre professional who helps artists connect their creative lives with personal purpose. I’ve worked in everything from Off-Broadway leadership to global workshops, always focused on meaningful impact.
I’ve spent over 25 years working at the intersection of theatre, coaching, and cultural exchange. Trained as a stage director, I’ve also managed award-winning theatre companies, led arts organisations, developed international artist retreats, and collaborated on global projects—from Serbia to Ethiopia, Italy to Iraq.

As Executive Director of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation, I created fellowships, edited key resources, and doubled the organisation’s scope. I co-founded the La MaMa Umbria International Symposium for Directors and Playwright Retreat, now long-running artist development programmes in Italy, and I've curated programs supporting the next generation of performance makers.
Since 2001, I’ve worked as a transformative coach, guiding theatre artists to align their work with a fulfilling life—offering private sessions, university workshops, and public talks at institutions like Columbia, Yale, and CalArts. Whether coaching individuals or mentoring artists in the U.S. Army's European theatre festivals, my focus is always on connection, clarity, and creative sustainability.
My goal is to help artists thrive—not just survive—by bridging their inner world with their artistic vision.
