Red Benbow
Author and poet
I’m Red Benbow — author, poet, and lifelong observer of people who talk louder than their thoughts. My work blends humour, honesty, and a love of storytelling that arrived fashionably late but refuses to leave.
My debut novels — The Tre and The Tre: The Lucille Baynes Story — allowed me to step fully into storytelling, blending emotional depth with a bit of mischief along the way.
Those books allowed me to build a world filled with complex characters who think, feel, and stumble through life just like the rest of us — sometimes awkwardly, sometimes beautifully, and often with a little humour tucked between the lines.
Alongside fiction, I write poetry that leans into honesty, rhythm and emotional clarity. Poetry lets me say things in a tighter, sharper way — the thoughts that don’t need 300 pages but still deserve to be heard. Over time I've built a growing community of readers who find connection in that blend of candid reflection and slightly cheeky storytelling.
Right now, I'm deep into writing My Life, My Journey, My 28 Years with a Narcissist, a project that is equal parts vulnerability, catharsis, and creative exploration. It’s a book that digs into truth — sometimes uncomfortable, sometimes empowering, always authentic. And, like everything I write, it aims to speak directly to readers who want stories with real emotional weight and a voice that doesn’t hide behind perfection.
My work explores resilience, transformation, and the strange, brilliant ways people navigate the world.
