Sarah Dowd

Managing Director of Tricolor Associates,

At Tricolour Associates, we specialise in bringing heritage, science, and the arts to life. Over the past twenty years, I’ve travelled across sectors and continents, shaped business and marketing plans, developed audience-engaging exhibitions, and worked with funders like the Wellcome Trust and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

My academic journey took me through History at McGill University, International Media & Communications at Goldsmiths College, and a CIM qualification in Arts Marketing in Cambridge. All that taught me not just theory, but how to ask the right questions — about people, stories, and places.

What gets me up in the morning is seeing heritage organisations, museums or communities I’m working with light up: when a visitor connects with a story, when a building is saved, when access is widened and design is universal. I care deeply about inclusion, about protecting the environment, about making places that welcome everyone. And I believe that strategic planning, good governance, thoughtful design, strong fundraising and a bit of boldness can make heritage meaningful, sustainable, and relevant.

Outside the strategy documents and funding bids — yes, I have a sense of humour — I love working with my team so that Tricolor Associates feels more like a collaborative family than just a company. If you’re curious about a project, committed to doing something real, or just interested in where heritage meets community and creativity, I’m always keen to talk.
