Iiro Komulainen
Revolutionary Pianist, Composer and Teacher
I’m Iiro Komulainen, a pianist and composer from Helsinki. I create unique concert experiences through improvisation, composition, and collaboration.
I’ve always been drawn to the power of music to connect, inspire, and tell stories. My performances are a blend of classical repertoire, my own compositions, and spontaneous improvisation. One of my favourite aspects of performing is inviting audiences to contribute ideas, which I transform into live music on the spot.
I’ve been fortunate to tour not only in Finland but around the world, sharing my passion for music in unique venues and settings. Whether it’s a concert hall, a shopping centre, or even a rooftop in winter, I strive to create memorable and accessible experiences for all. Beyond live performances, I’ve built a following on social media, where my videos have garnered millions of views, and my piano cover of Hans Zimmer’s Interstellar has reached over 3.7 million streams.
Collaboration is a big part of my journey, from innovative formats like PianoBattle concerts to integrating AI visuals into my music. These ventures allow me to explore the boundaries of art and technology while reaching new audiences.
When I’m not performing, I enjoy teaching piano, guitar, and music theory, helping others discover their own creativity. For me, music is about more than sound—it’s about creating moments and connections that resonate far beyond the notes.
