Katie Rose
Singer, writer, and choral music evangelist.
An innovative and versatile vocal artist, whose work spans performance, writing, choir direction, and voice coaching.
I’m Katie Rose, a vocal artist dedicated to creating transformative experiences through voice, song, sound, and word.
My interview with Mark is here.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of sharing my music with audiences and earning recognition, with The Guardian calling me a “fine singer” and fRoots Magazine describing my work as “an eye (and ear) opener.” My latest album, Flame (2021), follows three previous releases and includes a piece I composed for Road to Peace (2012), an award-winning documentary about the Dalai Lama.
Recently, I co-created Across the Lines with Randolph Matthews and performed in The Benefactress, Gill Manly’s play starring Joanna Scanlan at the Croydonites Festival (2022–2023). I’ve also been part of exciting cross-genre projects like Croydon Composers (2017–2018), exploring the intersections of culture and music.
Writing and media are another passion of mine, where I aim to broadcast positive news, highlight important issues, and showcase pioneering voices. Currently, I serve as Assistant Editor on the Women in KNX column at KNXtoday Magazine and write a column for Turning Point Magazine. I’ve also contributed to fRoots Magazine, The Croydon Citizen, and Croydon Radio, and my poetry has been published in Corvids & Others (2020) and Poetic Ramblings Through Croydonia (2016). I keep up with my blog, Rambling Rose, and share insights on my Vocal Revolution Podcast.
Bringing people together through song has always been close to my heart, and I believe singing can be a magical, accessible, and inclusive experience for everyone. I’ve had the joy of co-directing Sing for Water London for WaterAid (2017–2023) and directing the Festival of Peace Croydon in 2018, featuring community performances with the London Mozart Players. I also direct my own Welcome Choir and have arranged music for over 20 choirs, as well as for NHS England, Mind, Breathe Arts Health Research, and many other organizations dedicated to well-being.
Helping others unlock the joy and magic of their voices has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey. With over 20 years of coaching creatives across music, film, theatre, and TV, I bring a holistic approach to voice work. As a fully insured member of the Natural Voice Network, I continue expanding my knowledge by volunteering alongside an expert team at Lewisham Hospital Voice Clinic, which deepens my understanding of vocal wellness and the healing power of voice.
