Meet Elizabeth Birchwood.

Elizabeth Birchwood, a full member of The Arts and Culture Network, is a visual tribute Artist. With handmade floral paper art, jewellery design, paintings, needle felting and captivating animated digital works, her creations are not just art; they are soulful expressions, crafted with love to cherish a special person, pet, place or event.

Mark enjoyed meeting Elizabeth and creating her perfect cultural year, giving an insight into Elizabeth’s interests. Watch the video above.

Her artistic journey encompasses various materials and art forms, showcasing her versatility and refusal to be confined to a single medium. For her intricate paper flowers, Elizabeth utilises crepe paper, complemented by other materials like paint and pastel chalk. In this day and age, it is particularly important to minimise our impact on the environment so Elizabeth ensures her beautiful paper flowers are environmentally sustainable.

Using Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Blender, she creates digital art and 3D work. Additionally, she explores wool for needle felting soft sculptures, further expanding her artistic repertoire.

Under the brand name "Coquette, let your senses bloom," Elizabeth's art possesses qualities of fun, colour, sensuality, lushness, and freedom. Embracing life in all its facets, she encourages others to let their senses bloom through her one-of-a-kind creations. Her mantra revolves around the essentials of life—water, light, and love.

Elizabeth's passion lies in exploring and experimenting with diverse materials. Each idea takes shape in its unique style, demanding specific materials and techniques that she embraces with enthusiasm.

Her inspiration is drawn from a myriad of sources, ranging from traditional Korean art (Minhwa, Norigae, Hanbok, architecture, and furniture) to the Victorian era, nature, plants, animals, and spirituality.

Elizabeth's creativity knows no bounds, even finding inspiration in everyday experiences, such as the colours of homemade jam prompting a new floral creation. She believes inspiration is everywhere, waiting to be embraced, and that the immersive act of creating is a meditative experience where thoughts are turned off, and she becomes one with her art.
