Meet Tamsin Mendelsohn: a dedicated creative coach committed to helping artists and entrepreneurs unlock their full potential and make significant strides in their creative endeavours.
In a career spanning over 25 years in the creative and cultural industries, Tamsin brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her coaching practice.
Our interview was great fun. Expect some surprises, anecdotes and laughter.
Tamsin's journey began as a music leader and professional music therapist, where she worked extensively with vulnerable individuals and communities in special schools, hospitals, and post-conflict zones.
Her passion for using art and creativity to enact positive change led her to lead projects such as Drake Music Scotland, which aimed to create opportunities for disabled musicians, and War Child's arts programs for refugees in the Balkans.
Transitioning into roles within national funding bodies, including Arts Council England and Creative Scotland, Tamsin honed her skills in strategic development and facilitation, advocating for creative ambition, diversity, sustainability, and resilience within the industry. She played a pivotal role in supporting musicians and organisations through funding, strategic guidance, and advocacy initiatives, including championing genres such as jazz, improvised, and contemporary classical music.
Tamsin's commitment to empowering creatives led her to undergo specialised training in fundraising leadership and personal coaching, further enhancing her ability to guide individuals towards their creative aspirations. With a deep understanding of the challenges faced by artists and entrepreneurs, Tamsin offers tailored support to help them navigate obstacles, clarify their vision, and achieve their goals.
In her current role as a creative coach, Tamsin is dedicated to helping her clients make "Creative Leaps" by providing guidance, encouragement, and accountability. Through deep listening, thoughtful questioning, and drawing upon her extensive experience, she supports individuals in defining and growing their creative careers, ensuring they stay aligned with their vision and purpose.
Tamsin's approach is rooted in fostering collaboration, joy, and understanding in the creative community, one original act at a time. Whether it's refining business plans, overcoming creative blocks, or exploring new possibilities, Tamsin is committed to being her clients' biggest champion, helping them realise their potential and make meaningful contributions to the world through their creativity.
