Charilyne Rojas
Conductor and Communications Director
I’m Charilyne Rojas, Conductor of the Young Performers Orchestra at the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, and part of GDYO’s communications team. I’m deeply committed to teaching young musicians, building orchestral communities, and sharing our story with the world.
As conductor of the Young Performers Orchestra (YPO), I guide budding string players through rehearsals, concert planning, and ensemble technique. I genuinely believe that every young musician deserves the chance to explore their potential, and I strive to make rehearsals both rigorous and joyful.
In my communications role at GDYO, I manage alumni relations, help run our social media presence, and weave together stories that keep our youth orchestra connected across generations. I view communications not just as a tool, but as a bridge between past, present, and future members.
Outside of GDYO, I teach workshops, mentor school orchestras, and coach young string ensembles across the Dallas–Fort Worth area. My teaching philosophy is rooted in empathy and clarity: I aim to help each student understand not only how to play, but why they play.
I also founded Concerts for a Cause, a student-led initiative in which young musicians bring their performances to schools, community centers, and underserved spaces. It’s one of my favourite projects because it combines musical excellence with meaningful outreach.
I believe that music education can change lives, and that communication can strengthen communities. Through conducting, teaching, and storytelling, I work to make orchestral music accessible, inspiring, and relevant.
