  • Meet Rossie Henderson-Begg - Abstract Oceanic Artist.

Develop your own profile, network, career, and/or business by joining us at The Arts and Culture Network as a full member. It's just £10 per month. Cancel any time. Benefits are here. This profile is just one of them. Meet Rossie Henderson-Begg. Introducing Rossie Henderson-Begg, an abstract oceanic artist in Bristol, England, who captures the beauty and depth of the ocean and seascapes through her multi-layered, emotive artworks. She uses various mediums, mainly acrylic paint, with silicone oil and sometimes ink, or other more natural ingredients ... even tea! Mark loved exploring Rossie's work and having a nose at her beautiful paintings via her website. They also played the Arts and Culture Hot Hop 10 and The This or That game which you can watch above. Rossie's artistic journey began as a passion cultivated in her upbringing, though initially, she perceived it solely as a hobby due to not fitting the traditional mould of art education. After completing her studies in drama and Christian ministry at university, Rossie embarked on a career in charity work, which provided her with opportunities to utilise her artistic talents. Moving to northern Australia in 2005, she immersed herself in missions work, discovering the profound impact of creativity in her endeavours. Returning to England in 2009, Rossie continued to explore her artistic expression. In 2018, a personal trauma led Rossie to a pivotal moment of introspection, prompting her to delve deeper into her identity and creative calling. It was during this time that she committed to focusing more on painting. Inspired by the enchantment of seascapes and abstract expressionism, Rossie honed her skills in acrylic paint pouring, allowing the rhythmic flow of the medium to guide her artistic process. Rossie's paintings are imbued with vibrant colours and intricate textures, echoing the mysteries and depths of the oceans. Each brushstroke is a reflection of her faith, intuition, and deep reverence for the interconnectedness of life. Through her art, she seeks to inspire contemplation, upliftment, and a sense of belonging amidst the chaos of modern existence. Integrity, beauty, and faith serve as guiding principles in Rossie's creative journey, as she endeavours to make the world a more vibrant and harmonious place through her artistic contributions. With each artwork, she invites viewers to embark on a journey of self-discovery and wonder, where every layer of paint mirrors the possibilities that lie within us and the world around us. Her art reflects the profoundness of the oceans' mysteries, the depth of hidden life beneath the surface. Rossie aims for her paintings - a range of originals and prints, and commissions - to be pieces in people’s homes and public spaces to inspire, that every time people walk past, they see something new, that it would speak to them on many levels and open their souls up to the more of life, what is within them, and perhaps what is beyond them. Through creativity and discovery, her art serves gives inspiration for generations to come. You can reach Rossie on LinkedIn here, via her website here, and by Instagram here. Examples of Rossie Henderson-Begg's artwork Would you like to be interviewed? • Meet Insa Schrader - Healing Culture Network

Develop your own profile, network, career, and/or business by joining us at The Arts and Culture Network as a full member. It's just £10 per month. Cancel any time. Benefits are here. This profile is just one of them. Meet Insa Schrader. Berlin-based Insa Schrader's work is focussed on the beneficial opportunities that interactions between health, prevention and art and culture can deliver. She networks internationally with makers and experts, and works with clinics and nursing homes as well as museums, galleries, municipalities and companies. The Healing Culture Network Several anecdotes and surprises emerged when I explored Insa’s work and created her fantasy culture year in their interview together. It's widely accepted that involvement in the arts and culture have a positive effect on our health, both mentally and physically. Several scientific studies by renowned institutes around the world have shown that intellectual and sense stimulating experiences help aid recovery, prevent mental health illnesses such as anxiety and depression and maintain good health. Insa is playing a vital role in this respect. Insa creates healing culture networking opportunities between healthcare and the cultural sector and strengthens the exchange of knowledge and experience. In healthcare, she has established art therapies, temporary events such as exhibitions and concerts and improvised interventions such as clinic clowns. To create a healing environment, she has put various forms of the arts in buildings and hospitals, creating sensual and stimulating spatial atmospheres. Ultimately, arts and culture enlivens hospitals and care homes for residents, relatives, visitors and staff. This flows into her work on corporate health management, creating lively, attractive working environments. Institutions have come to rely on healing culture as a strategic approach: with the expanded self-image, they become a place of well-being, inspiration and contemplation, resilience and prevention. Healing culture is a provider of social prescribing - medically prescribed and professionally accompanied cultural experiences instead of antibiotics and drugs. These include museum visits or artistic activities in painting, dance, music and singing. These often focus on social participation and therefore, usually takes place in group situations. IN our interview Insa tells me about Health Humanities - a subject area in education for health professions - especially in medical studies. The focus is on developing and strengthening a holistic self-image, soft skills like empathy, communication, error culture and self-leadership are taught. This includes sensory competencies, which are activated, for example, through art viewing or practical experiences in storytelling, dance or acting. Insa is very proud of her healing culture research projects - especially in the context of neuroscience (Neuroarts). Her ongoing work through healing culture brings art and culture into everyday life in many places and into the centre of life. This profile is just one of them. Meet Stuart Newman. Stuart Newman is a full member of The Arts and Culture Network, a seasoned audio engineer, musician, and writer, boasting over two decades of expertise including projects for the BBC and NBC Universal. Stuart and I met on Zoom for his interview in which I created his fantasy cultural year from answers to 10 easy questions. We also played the This or That game. "Indoors or outdoors Stuart?" Stuart's journey began amidst the rebellious fervour of his youth, where he leveraged his connections in the music scene to establish the underground music magazine, Control!. Transitioning into the realm of video production, he collaborated with leading producers to craft documentaries featuring iconic bands like The Exploited and The Cockney Rejects. Stuart's creative path led him to the forefront of broadcast engineering, initially at OnDigital/ITV Digital, where he received formal training before advancing to the role of Network Supervisor. Following the demise of ITV Digital, Stuart found himself at BDA Creative under the helm of former Sky creative head, Bruce Dunlop, honing his craft as a creative audio engineer. His tenure at BDA saw him spearheading numerous projects ranging from promos to radio shows, solidifying his reputation as a versatile and adept professional. Throughout his career, Stuart's passion for music remained undiminished, culminating in collaborations with diverse artists and the production of albums. Notably, his journey also included personal milestones such as overcoming alcoholism and delving into holistic content creation with the EnTrance self-help audio library. In 2012, Stuart joined NBC Universal, lending his expertise to produce on-air promotions audio for EMEA channels. Undeterred by challenges, he ventured into freelance audio mixing in 2023, embracing the opportunity for creative autonomy and exploration. Beyond his illustrious career in audio engineering, Stuart's creative pursuits extend to screenwriting, with several feature-length scripts and TV show pilots under his belt. His multifaceted portfolio is a testament to his unwavering determination, innovative spirit, and relentless pursuit of excellence in every endeavour. Rachel Dingle is a theatre producer, an arts and culture tour de force based in Southend-on-Sea in Essex pioneering shows and events for the local community. In our interview I created her fantasy cultural year from her answers to 10 easy questions and we played the This or That game. Introducing the irrepressible Rachel Dingle, the dynamo behind Show Up Productions! While some were perfecting their banana bread recipes during the first lockdown, Rachel was busy founding Show Up! Southend, proving that creativity knows no bounds – even in the face of a pandemic. By day, she's weaving magic in the world of theatre as a costume and wardrobe guru, and by night, she's concocting theatrical masterpieces of her own. But Rachel's talents don't stop there – she's also a budding playwright and event producer, spreading joy and laughter wherever she goes. And boy, does she have a knack for it! ... Just ask her friends: "Your responses can be quite withering," Jack confesses, though we suspect it's all in good fun. "It's good to have a designer that can actually design," praises Bob, recognising Rachel's exceptional skills. "Feminist and ex-Christian? Do you have any friends?" jokes Paul, but we all know Rachel's charm is irresistible. "She's very gifted," exclaims Simon from Facebook, echoing what we all secretly know. "Look at her, she looks about four," teases Imelda, but hey, age is just a number when you've got talent like Rachel's. "Withering is a superb description of you. I doff my cap to whomsoever put their finger on as defining a characteristic as that," quips Jolyon, clearly impressed by Rachel's wit. "You're the most chilled dresser ever," admires Phil, recognising Rachel's effortless style. From online murder mysteries to amateur pantos, Rachel's creative endeavours are as diverse as they are delightful. Her projects, like "Christmas From Scratch" and "The Plot Thickens," have garnered thousands of views and left audiences clamouring for more. And let's not forget her ventures beyond the stage – from running SubtlTee, her positive slogan tee business, to founding Stage Babies after a particularly hilarious incident with a fake baby onstage. Rachel's ingenuity knows no bounds! So, if you're looking for a dose of excitement, a touch of the unexpected, and a whole lot of Rachel's signature charm, look no further than Show Up Productions. With Rachel at the helm, you're guaranteed a theatrical experience like no other. So what are you waiting for? Come on, Show Up, and join the fun! • Meet Emmanuel Bueb - fine wine investment pioneer and music fan.

Develop your own profile, network, career, and/or business by joining us at The Arts and Culture Network as a full member. It's just £10 per month. Cancel any time. Benefits are here. This profile is just one of them. Meet Emmanuel Bueb. Emmanuel Bueb is a full member of The Arts and Culture network and CEO at Vinesia. International cuisine and fine wines are of course essential elements of the rich tapestry of culture and Manu is at the forefront of the fine wine investment sector. In our interview, I learned more about Manu, about his company Vinesia, and how he and his colleagues are making it easier and safer to invest in fine wine with blockchain technology. Expect some laughter, anecdotes and surprises as I create Manu's fantasy cultural year from the answers to 10 easy questions. You will find a summary of our conversation below. About Vinesia Vinesia is a revolutionary new investment platform for wine lovers and investors. Manu and his colleagues are committed to increased levels of security, transparency, and liquidity, enabling investors to enjoy, buy, and sell the world's finest wines easily in a truly global, robustly secure marketplace. Between 2000 and 2022, the value of fine wine increased by 350%, easily outstripping the NASDAQ at 237% during the same period. The rate at which that value is increasing continues to accelerate. As an investment, fine wine has enhanced resilience against global economic shocks with a Sharpe Ratio risk/reward profile of 1.53. By comparison, Gold is 0.57 and the S&P 500 is 0.61. However, as a physical asset, fine wine is more vulnerable to misappropriation than non-physical assets. Traditional fine wine investment platforms and marketplaces often struggle to provide reassuring levels of storage security, and proof of ownership. Vinesia has addressed this by irrevocably binding a non-physical asset (NFT) to the physical asset itself. You can reach Manu via the Vinesia website at www.vinesia.com. More about Vinesia: How it works: Vinesia's founders: Here is an AI-edited summary of our conversation ... how apt. Blockchain and Wine Industry Transparency Emmanuel discussed his transition from a career nearing the age of 50 to a strong interest in blockchain technology, particularly its potential for creating transparency in asset management. He discovered the value of bit coins as a store of value and was particularly interested in how blockchain could be used in the wine industry. He shared his conversation with their long-time friend, Fabrice Mopin, who is an expert in wine and had insights into the growth of wine as an investment. Emmanuel saw a need for a more structured and transparent system in the wine industry, especially for proving the authenticity and ownership of rare wines. He mentioned a book about frauds in the wine industry, highlighting the prevalence of fraud in the market. Innovation and Marketing Discussion Mark and Emmanuel had a conversation about their personal interests and business ideas. Emmanuel revealed his admiration for the Flat Iron Building in New York City, noting its innovative design and its symbolism for human ingenuity. Emmanuel also shared his love for business books, particularly Seth Godin's "Permission Marketing" and "One-to-One Marketing" from Don Rodgers and Martha Peppers, which he believes shaped his business perspective. Emmanuel discussed his ambition to develop an AI-powered recommendation engine for wine investors, aiming to promote young and promising wine producers. Mark showed interest in Emmanuel's ideas and shared his own admiration for Seth Godin's marketing strategies. Wine, Cocktails, and a Fully Funded Research Trip Emmanuel shared his interest in wine, particularly the significance of sharing it in French culture. He also mentioned his new hobby of mixing cocktails. The conversation led to Mark proposing a fully funded world research trip for Emmanuel, focusing on Chilean wine and culture. Emmanuel expressed interest in this opportunity, mentioning his fondness for a Chilean wine, Alma Viva. The trip condition was to report on the experience at a short meeting at the end of the year. Mark also mentioned a surprise letter from the foundation that Emmanuel would receive on the trip. Music and Culture Preferences Emmanuel and Mark discussed their music preferences. Emmanuel expressed his love for jazz, particularly Miles Davis, and his appreciation for rock and roll and Eminem. Mark proposed a hypothetical scenario where Emmanuel would immerse himself in the Chilean culture, attending a dance performance and choosing the cuisine for dinner. Emmanuel expressed a preference for Tango and Italian cuisine. The conversation ended with Mark introducing a sport day in the hypothetical scenario. Football, Art, and Concert Plans Mark proposed to Emmanuel to participate in a football game on Saturday afternoon, which Emmanuel agreed to due to his love for the sport. Mark then suggested a visit to an art gallery on Sunday morning, where Emmanuel expressed interest in seeing the works of Banksy, an artist he admires. Finally, Emmanuel was given the choice of a play or musical, but he inquired if a concert could be an option, which Mark affirmed. Conversations on Creativity and Leadership Emmanuel expressed his admiration for Bruce Springsteen's work ethic and creativity, stating his intention to see him in concert. he also mentioned his interest in Eminem's energy. Emmanuel then shared his preference for watching old French movies and "Amélie", and mentioned his fondness for Jacques Tati. Mark, in response, shared his own appreciation for these films and asked Emmanuel about his choice for a lunch companion. Emmanuel chose Winston Churchill, admiring their leadership during Britain's darkest hours. Jazz to Funk: Emmanuel's Musical Shift Emmanuel expressed his admiration for Giro, a chef who runs a three-star Michelin restaurant in Tokyo's Metro. He finds Gyro's life story and dedication to detail fascinating, and would love to sit down and talk with him. Emmanuel also shared his desire to learn to cook special dishes from Chile with a real chef during their last day in Santiago. On the other hand, Mark informed Emmanuel that their sponsors are relinquishing them of their musical focus on jazz, prompting Emmanuel to express his desire to listen to Prince, implying a shift towards funk music. Music, Travel, and Blockchain: Emmanuel and Mark's Conversation Emmanuel and Mark had a wide-ranging conversation about music, with both acknowledging Prince's talent, and recalled their own experiences of seeing them perform. He also mentioned other musicians such as Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, and Tom Petty. The conversation then shifted to a creative project Emmanuel had undertaken, with Mark suggesting the possibility of setting up a travel agency to organise similar trips. The discussion concluded with Mark requesting Emmanuel to explain how blockchain technology works, particularly in relation to an investment opportunity. NFT Wine Platform Launch Discussed Emmanuel discussed the launch of their NFT platform, with a focus on its use in the wine industry as a digital certificate of ownership. The NFTs are attached to wines purchased from winemakers, with NFC and Bluetooth tags providing proof of authenticity and location. Emmanuel emphasised the benefits of blockchain technology, shifting the system from trust to truth, and providing a public and auditable record of authenticity, property ownership, and storage conditions. He also highlighted the enhanced liquidity provided by this system, as the NFT can be sold digitally, making it easier to sell and verify its authenticity and conditions. Fine Wine as Emerging Asset Class Emmanuel and Mark engaged in a conversation about the potential of fine wine as an emerging asset class. Emmanuel explained that fine wine has a high Sharpe ratio, meaning it provides steady returns with low volatility, making it a resilient asset class during crises. He also discussed the growth and future plans of Mark's organisation, which includes becoming a support foundation and practicing democratic collective philanthropy. The conversation concluded with Emmanuel admiring Mark's office setup in a clubhouse garden. Would you like to be interviewed? • Meet Donna Lewis -artist, cartoonist, and mental health advocate.

Develop your own profile, network, career, and/or business by joining us at The Arts and Culture Network as a full member. It's just £10 per month. Cancel any time. Benefits are here. This profile is just one of them. Meet Donna Lewis - Pics and words that pick you up. Washinghton, D.C. based Donna Lewis, is a creative force at the intersection of arts, cartooning and mental health advocacy, seamlessly weaving humour and awareness into the fabric of her work. I had the pleasure of interviewing cartoonist Donna in which we explored her work and she generously shared some mental health challenges she had overcome in her own life, as well as great advice for others. Best known for her web comic "Crazed Angels," Donna initiated a community of hardworking celestial beings whose benevolent efforts to assist humans were consistently thwarted by human resistance to help. Transitioning to "Reply All" and "Reply All Lite," Donna explores the pitfalls of enlightenment with a delightful blend of wit and visual storytelling. A versatile artist, Donna, also a mental health advocate, ventured into the world of creative communications after a brief stint in local stand-up comedy. Recognising the conflicts between late-night schedules and her body's internal clock, she redirected her comedic talents into the realm of cartooning. Starting with basic stick figures paired with material drawn from her stand-up routines, Donna discovered a charming and entertaining escape from reality. Hailing from an "annoyingly funny family," Donna draws endless inspiration from their absurd notions about the world, translating familial anecdotes into delightful illustrations and narratives. She assures her audience that no family members were harmed in the creation of her strips, yet some names were left unchanged to humorously incriminate those deserving of such. In her daily life, Donna Lewis contributes to the operations of the federal government in Washington, D.C., engaging in frequent debates on constitutional issues. Her enduring love for government and the Constitution remains evident, shaping her perspective as both an artist and an advocate. Beyond her cartooning endeavours, Donna is the proud owner of BellaBooDC, a design studio specialising in character art, design, and patterns for licensing and publishing. With an ever-evolving mastery of drawing, Donna has transformed her initial stick figures into intricate depictions, now capable of capturing the nuanced details of expression. Donna stands as a testament to the power of creativity, humour, and advocacy, using her artistic talents to uplift and enlighten audiences while making a significant impact in the mental health community.
