  • Yemisi Mokuolu - The creative business consultant at Hatch Ideas.

Develop your own profile, network, career, and/or business by joining us at The Arts and Culture Network as a full member. It's just £10 per month. Cancel any time. Benefits are here . This profile is just one of them. Meet Yemisi Mokuolu. Meet Yemisi Mokuolu , the powerhouse creative business consultant, independent producer, and project manager with a knack for turning dreams into reality. Based in the British coastal town of Worthing, creative business consultant Yemisi is the mastermind behind Hatch Ideas and its vibrant offshoot, Hatch Africa. Her mission? To support creative industries and social impact initiatives with a blend of basic business structures and a whole lot of heart. Yemisi and I discussed her experiences in supporting creative industries and social impact initiatives, and reflected on Yemisi's recent experiences and future plans. Creating her fantasy cultural year proved a great way to get to know her better. Yemisi's journey into the world of creative consultancy began with a clear vision: to help entrepreneurs discover their purpose and authenticity. Armed with a wealth of experience and a passion for creativity, she set out to bridge the gap between creative talent and the business acumen. Her work with government-funded programs across Africa laid the groundwork for what would become a beacon of support for countless innovators and pioneers. In 2012, Yemisi launched Hatch Africa, a consultancy dedicated to nurturing creative industries across the continent. Recognising the immense potential of these industries to drive economic growth and social change, Hatch Africa set out to provide bespoke, high-quality consultancy and training. However, they faced a significant challenge: the lack of dedicated business development and financing options for projects requiring less than £5 million. Undeterred by these hurdles, Yemisi and her team conducted extensive research on financing for Creative and Cultural Industries (CCIs) in Africa. Their findings, published in a book chapter by King’s College London in 2020, highlighted the crucial need for better understanding and support in the investment processes. This research became a cornerstone for Hatch Africa’s vision: to create a dedicated platform for incubation, investment, and impact. Yemisi produces the AsaBeako festival in Ghana. Listen above to an exclusive mix by Sensie Lo from the festival in 2020. Hatch Africa: Incubation, Investment, Impact Hatch Africa's journey has been marked by perseverance and innovation. They have tirelessly worked to raise the profile of African creative content, providing entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed. Their efforts include business development and incubation programmes, advocacy, and capacity-building initiatives. One shining example of their success is the Adire Lounge in Nigeria, which empowers women and young girls with textile design skills. Through Hatch Africa’s support, this project has trained 250 women and now sells to 15 countries globally. Yemisi’s vision extends beyond individual success stories. Hatch Africa has played a pivotal role in initiatives like the Adaya Lab programme, which supports the development of creative entrepreneurs in West Africa. By fostering better understanding between investors and creatives, Hatch Africa is creating a more supportive ecosystem for the creative industries. Yemisi also helped set up Five Cowries , the education charity in Nigeria. Take a look at their mission here . Beyond Hatch Africa, Yemisi founded Hatch Ideas , a consultancy and training firm with a global reach. Hatch Ideas is dedicated to helping individuals and organisations develop businesses and initiatives for cultural change and social impact. With a client list that includes Arts Council England, BBC London, City University, and more, Yemisi’s influence spans continents. Looking ahead, Yemisi and her team are set on expanding their impact. Their plans include establishing partnerships with incubators worldwide, developing relationships with investors, and lobbying for policies that support creative industries. Yemisi’s approach is dynamic and relentless, embodying the high-speed, no-green-light philosophy of the creative sector. Yemisi Mokuolu’s story is one of movement, not inertia. She invites everyone to join her in generating a healthy and enabling environment for creative industries to flourish. With Hatch Ideas and Hatch Africa at the helm, the future looks bright for creative entrepreneurs everywhere. In a world where creativity meets business, Yemisi Mokuolu is the guiding star, leading the way with passion, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to positive change. Her studies took her through the rich musical landscapes of Madrid and Seville, where she honed her craft under the guidance of esteemed teachers. Career Beginnings and Musical Preferences Elena's career in classical guitar is marked by her passion for provoking deep emotions in her audience through her performances. While she does not compose, she has a profound admiration for composers and enjoys playing guitar concertos by West, Harbay, Tong, and Ponthe. Her music is available on several digital platforms, reflecting her dedication to making classical guitar accessible to a wider audience. Cultural Influences and Personal Interests In discussions about her cultural experiences, Elena shared her love for Spanish culture and art, a sentiment appreciated by Mark, who has familial ties to Seville. This cultural appreciation extends to her favourite book, "Lord of the Rings," which she has read multiple times and enjoys discussing in both literary and cinematic forms. Decision-Making Game and Personal Preferences Elena and Mark engaged in a decision-making game that revealed Elena's personal preferences. Given choices like tea or coffee, radio or television, and high heels or flip-flops, Elena displayed a thoughtful approach, opting to "test the water" rather than jump in at the deep end. Her indecision between Beethoven and Mozart highlights her deep appreciation for classical music. Fantasy Cultural Year Mark and Elena created a fantasy cultural year for her, set in Egypt near the Pyramids of Giza, incorporating her favourite book "Lord of the Rings." They discussed the possibility of a recent audiobook adaptation, which Elena found intriguing despite her familiarity with the text. World Tour Funded by Cairo Foundation A significant milestone in Elena's fantasy career came with an offer from a family foundation in Cairo to fund a world tour for her to study guitar music. She expressed interest in exploring various countries, ultimately choosing Argentina. This fantasy opportunity included documenting her journey through a TV show, a book, and recordings of guitar music she encounters, with the foundation covering all expenses. Classical Music, Tango, and Argentine Cuisine Elena's musical preferences lean heavily towards classical music due to its diverse range of moods. Imagining a visit to Buenos Aires, she and Mark envisioned attending a traditional tango dance performance and enjoying Argentine empanadas or steak for dinner. Preferences for Future Outings When discussing future outings, Elena showed interest in attending a rock concert or a science fiction film, though she was less enthusiastic about sporting events like soccer matches. Her eclectic tastes reflect a wide range of interests beyond classical music. Restaurant Lunch Guest List In a hypothetical scenario, Elena chose to have a restaurant lunch with Slash from Guns N' Roses, Paco de Lucía, and possibly a historic composer such as Beethoven or Mozart. She also expressed a desire to listen to Guns N' Roses on the way home, demonstrating her diverse musical tastes. Project Completion and Future Plans Elena successfully completed this interview with Mark, who expressed gratitude for her contribution and membership. Plans to promote the project on various platforms, including YouTube and SoundCloud, were discussed. Summary Elena Ortega's journey as a classical guitarist is characterised by her dedication to her craft, her appreciation for a wide range of musical influences, and her eagerness to explore new cultural experiences. Her future endeavours, including the world tour funded by the fictitious Cairo foundation, promise to enrich her artistry and connect her with audiences worldwide. • Scolby - The Rock 'n' Roll Revolutionary.

Develop your own profile, network, career, and/or business by joining us at The Arts and Culture Network as a full member. It's just £10 per month. Cancel any time. Benefits are here . This profile is just one of them. Meet Scolby. Scott Colby is the Founder of Cruise Music , a songwriter and guitarist, and a model to boot. He’s on a mission to save the music industry - and maybe even change the world while he’s at it. Hold on to your guitars, because Scott firmly believes that Cruise is set to be the biggest band the world has ever seen, sparking a rock ‘n’ roll revival that’ll echo from the UK to every corner of the globe. It was great getting to know Scolby (his catchy nickname), having him study guitar in Italy in the fantasy cultural year Mark. created for him, and playing the fast paced This or That game. Scott Colby’s story begins with inspiration from Noel Gallagher’s anthems to the soulful strains of Stevie Wonder. Scott embarked on his formal education at the University of York, where he dipped his toes into the world of Economics and Politics from September 2022 to December 2022. Not one to be tied down by convention, he swiftly shifted gears to the University of East Anglia, immersing himself in Film and TV Studies with a side of Music from September 2023 to June 2024. Here, he climbed mountains, both literal and metaphorical, as a member of the Climbing and Friendly Runners Clubs, and honed his craft with the Music Production Society. March 2024 marked a pivotal moment in Scott’s career with the birth of Cruise Music. As the mastermind behind Cruise, Scott has declared nothing short of a musical revolution. With the swagger of a rockstar and the ambition of an empire builder, Scott proclaims Cruise as the medium for the greatest soundtrack (album) of all time. Based in the London area, he’s been blending the raw energy of live gigs with digital prowess to reach audiences far and wide. Adding another string to his bow, Scott joined the ranks of Models Direct in April 2024. With his striking looks, he’s been turning heads and gracing campaigns, proving that rockstars can indeed strut their stuff on and off the stage. Scott’s musical palette is as varied as a festival lineup. His brother's influence opened the door to Noel Gallagher and Oasis, whom Scott adores unapologetically. The diverse sounds of Madness, Bon Jovi, Metallica, and George Harrison blend seamlessly with the modern beats of Calvin Harris and Example. Recent influences like Pedro Danger, The Libertines, Jamie T, and Yard Act add fresh layers to his sonic tapestry. This fusion of electronic, shoegaze, funk, dance, grunge, folk, punk, rock ‘n’ roll, indie, ska, soul, metal, and country culminates in a sound that is unmistakably Scott Colby. He hopes his own music can offer solace and joy, especially to the youth and working class, fostering a sense of optimism that bridges generations. Ever the visionary, Scott’s call to arms for most driven band members is clear: they must be mad for it, kind-hearted, and ready to prove their point. As Scott Colby’s journey unfolds, one thing is certain: the world of music better brace itself, because the rock ‘n’ roll revival is here, and it’s cruising full speed ahead. You can find Scott on LinkedIn here , Instagram here and TikTok here. Would you like to be interviewed published and promoted?
